1961

This continued until 1961 when Reynolds got it’s first taste of the future. An automated mechanical “step-switch” was installed, replacing the operator and allowing subscribers to dial other users directly.

1900

Although Reynolds Telephone Company was not incorporated until 1957, the company has been operational in one form or another since at least 1900. With limited documentation and historical information, we know fairly little about the first 50-60 Years of the company. We do know that for the first 100 years or so, the company’s primary service offering was the Telephone. The first telephone service utilized a live operator and a switchboard to complete calls, often over shared “party lines”.
